Aka Carl

Aka Carl is the founder and owner of Sub Cult after setting up the label in the summer 2007. Aka Carl has been fine tuning his own production style over the last year and has releases and upcoming releases on Techment, StarsTraxx and of course Sub Cult! Aka Carl tracks up to now have attracted the attention of world class DJ’s such as DJ Preach, Wehbba, Fabio Stein, K90 and others

Before the launch of Sub Cult Aka Carl has been studying for the last few years, first of all he completed a CPD in the music industry at Paul McCartney School… Liverpool’s Institute of Performing Arts after spending a year and a half in Liverpool Aka Carl moved to Manchester and enrolled at the School of Sound Recording to study for a degree in sound engineering and design and completed the course in July 2008.

First of all Aka Carl used just Vinyl and played various styles of music Techno, Trance and Hard Dance, recently he has focused more on Techno and the use of ableton live integrated into the pioneer DJM 800. In 2008 Aka Carl won on of 15 places out of 650 submissions to play a Set at Dance Island in 2008. And has been compared by Jon O'Bir to Fergie back in his banging days after wining a runner up place in IDJ’s raw talent competition.
