Matt Preston

Matt Preston has always had a love for music from an early age when he listened to all kinds of music and never had one specific genre. Having always liked dance music, 2002 saw Matt visit his first proper organised dance event, Goodgreef, with Eddie Halliwell and Lisa Lashes headlining. From that night onwards Matt had been converted to a dance addict.

Getting his first set of decks at the age of 17, Matt began to learn to mix with hard house and Hard Dance. Having not really picked up the art of mixing Matt decided to put aside the decks and continue with college. Once finishing college the urge for mixing was still there, so at the age of 20, Matt decided to try once more to master the decks. Matt Preston also decided to take up a course at the School of Sound Recording in Manchester, where Matt would train for the next two years to become a qualified sound engineer. Whilst at university he met Aka Carl and other like minded people and learned how to produce electronic dance music. Matt went through many different changes in music genre to finally settle on the best one for him, Techno! After playing mainly trance and Hard Dance Matt started to enjoy the funkier side of techno. Matt Preston now likes to construct his sets with the harder, funkier and groovier side to techno, but can be occasionally found to reverting back to his roots and incorporating tracks with trance like elements.
